ABOUT THE CLPNA
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is a non-profit regulatory organization. The CLPNA exists to protect Alberta healthcare users. Our first responsibility is to the public. We regulate the profession of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) setting and maintaining standards to ensure the public receives safe competent and ethical healthcare services. Our commitment to public protection and regulatory excellence underscores everything we do. The CLPNA has partnered with the Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services to lead the development and the continued operations of the Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) Alberta HCAs are not a regulated profession although HCAs will become regulated under the Health Professions Act in the future.
EMPLOYMENT TERM
This is a full-time permanent appointment. The position is eligible for hybrid work with a requirement to work in our Edmonton office on a regular basis.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Executive Officer Registration and Education the Director of Education leads the strategic direction operations and performance of the Education Department ensuring alignment with the CLPNAs mandate to protect the public. The role is accountable for advancing program approval processes and education standards and indicators and for representing the CLPNA in provincial and national education forums. Through strong relationships with government post-secondary institutions and other partners the Director supports informed timely and evidence-based regulatory decision-making.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills including the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly and diplomatically. They will apply sound analytical judgment and strategic thinking within a legislative and regulatory framework and manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting timelines and maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
The Director of Education will exhibit professionalism discretion and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with staff educators government and external partners. Demonstrated leadership capability awareness of system-level and political factors and knowledge of legislation regulations and policies impacting the LPN and / or HCA professions are essential to success in this role.
