Hays has partnered with a large construction management firm that focuses on a wide range of projects across various asset classes. They do industrial,mercial, residential, institutional, mission-critical and civil projects across Canada and are looking to add to their business development team in Toronto, Ontario. The open position is for a Manager of Business Development.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Vice President, the Manager of Business Development will proactively assemble and analyze relevant market and industry data and trends to identify construction project opportunities. They will actively pursue, build and maintain relationships across the industry to generate and enhance these business opportunities. Relationships will include key stakeholders, including, but not limited toernment, private sector organizations, engineering firms, architectural firms and other subtrade partners. They will maintain local relationships and accurate pipelines of clients for future projects and to obtain referrals. The Manager, Business Development will attend events and different forums, representing our client as a value-driven builder andmunity partner. Finally, they will be actively involved with RFQs and proposals and lead and support proposal development, including presentations and relationship strategies with internal teams.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful Manager of Business Development will have at least 8 years in a related role, including 4 years in construction, development, or similar field. They will have managed at least one individual in the past in a supervisory capacity. They will have a Bachelor's degree or diploma in business administration, business management, marketing, construction or related discipline. The BD Manager must possess a strong understanding of construction terminology and really grasp concepts and technical projects. They will understand development, design, delivery methods, contract types, insurance, legal issues, financing strategies and risk analysis. Furthermore, they will be able to identify the difference between the private and public sectors and the means of procuring the work. They will be an exceptionalmunicator with strong business acumen, and proven success in the market with pre-existing relationships, including withernment.
