Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller with initiative who can solve problems and develop a finance team for a fast growing Winnipeg group of construction and property management companies.

Reporting to the Controller, you will join a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture and have the ability to make a significant impact with a wide scope of responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include :

• Support the Controller in managing the accounting for all operating, holding and construction companies.
• Lead and mentor the finance department.
• Participate in the creation of operational budgets and forecasts.
• Identify and implement process improvements which impact customer quality and improve internal operating efficiency.
• Complete month-end and year-end accounting procedures including journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts and variance analysis.
• Completing year-end working papers and tax schedules.
• Provide guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis and reporting.
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of internal controls.
• Support the Controller and Management Group on various projects to support continued growth of the business.
