Reporting to the Manager of Long Range Planning, the Senior Planner, Long Range Planning will provide expert advice and recommendations on a wide range of policy planning issues, including the implementation of the City of Brantford Official Plan and Neighbourhood Block Plan process, by-laws (e.g. Zoning By-law, site plan, parkland dedication) and guidelines (e.g. urban design manual), cultural heritage planning and programs, Community Improvement initiatives, development monitoring/statistics and growth management. The Senior Planner, Long Range Planning will manage key projects such as an Official Plan update/conformity exercise including the review of existing polices intended to guide growth.. The successful applicant will prepare reports and presentations to City Council and Committees, respond to inquiries and liaise with other City and agency staff, consultants, development proponents, stakeholders and the general public. On occasion, the Senior Planner, Long Range Planning may be required to respond to Provincial planning initiatives affecting the City (e.g. changes to the Provincial Planning Statement, Planning Act and other legislation, regulations and plans) and may also provide recommendations on development proposals and applications including Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plans of Subdivision/Condominium, and Site Plans. The Senior Planner will be expected to provide guidance to junior planning staff in the Department.
This position will involve time working at City Hall and time working from home, to be set out in a Work From Home Agreement, with periodic evening meetings.
Qualifications
As a condition of employment, proof of current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications will be required.
