Position Overview

Reporting to the Superintendent - Site Services and working two (2) weeks on followed by two (2) weeks off, the Team Leader – DPRT will be responsible for directing and overseeing Dual Power Road Train (DPRT) and production support on safely delivering and producing ore to the Process plant including  daily management of departmental objectives.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Promote and demonstrate safe work practices in all tasks at Ekati;

Work with Technical Services, Maintenance, and Surface Mining to execute the mining plan and maintenance schedule;

Mentorship of employees and trainees;

Understand the importance, urgency, and priorities concerning ore movement to the process plant;

Complete daily shift reports for Superintendent;

Contribute to the development of the mining plan through multi-department communication, team direction, and prioritization of responsibilities, while meeting budgeted targets;

Monitor all tracking systems to ensure equipment is being operated in a safe, responsible, and productive manner;

Direct a team of DPRT operators to transport ore to the Process Plant meeting production targets and objectives;

Direct a team of production support operators on maintaining all ore pads, sorting, loading DPRT’s, loading ore to the plant and end use of plant product.

Work in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

Education / Experience

High School Diploma / GED;

Have or able to obtain level 1 supervisor ticket;

5 years’ experience in the mining industry, including significant supervisory experience;

Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a mining or industrial setting;

Knowledge of mass material movement, road maintenance, and crushing operations;

Previous experience using SAP and an electronic production data collection system (i.e. WENCO) would be considered an asset.

Additional Information

The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
