At our facilities in Guelph you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the Occupational Safety team as the Health and Safety Specialist :

• Lead risk analyses and safety audits, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Develop and oversee advanced health and safety training programs and provide training for managers.
• Manage incidents and coordinate corrective actions, while supervising the use of PPE and managing H&S projects.
• Teach proactive HSE risk management strategies at all levels of the organization and maintain emergency plans.
• Prepare detailed reports for management and communicate the results of H&S initiatives.
• Some travel is involved in the role as well, it is as followed

• Work Location & Travel Requirements

  • Primary Location: Guelph
  • Secondary Location: Kitchener – expected travel at least once per week, based on business needs.
  • Occasional Travel: Windsor – approximately every 3–4 weeks for 1.5 days. Additional time may be required for major projects or initiatives; these will be scheduled well in advance.

  Travel Support:

  • The local management team typically carpools to Windsor and arranges hotel accommodations for these visits.
  • If individual travel to Windsor is required, car rental and hotel expenses will be covered by Cascades.

• 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role.
• In-depth Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and application at the plant level.
• Expertise in risk analysis, safety audits, incident management and implementation of corrective measures.
• Experience in Change Management.
• Experience in building and supervising health and safety training programs.
• Effective management of PPE and H&S projects.
• Strong communication skills, team work and leadership skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Rigor, proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
