As a tax lawyer, you will work in a stimulating environment on a wide range of complex matters involving taxation, corporate law and estate law.
Responsibilities
- Advise and assist clients on the legal and tax aspects of their estate planning, business operations, purchase or sale transactions, corporate reorganizations, real estate transactions or intergenerational transfers
- Draft legal opinions in taxation
- Draft memoranda describing the recommended steps and their legal and tax impacts
- Draft the legal documentation required for tax or estate planning transactions
- Draft various commercial contracts
- Prepare estate planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney and trusts
- Structure and document corporate transactions, particularly for complex estates
- Contribute to tax research and maintaining internal knowledge related to taxation
- Participate in drafting educational or explanatory content on tax and estate topics
What We Are Looking For
- Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec
- Two to five years of relevant experience in taxation
- Specialized training in taxation such as a master’s degree, DESS or CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course, or equivalent experience
- Intellectual curiosity and strong interest in taxation
- Proficiency in French and English, spoken and written
- Excellent legal drafting skills
- Team oriented mindset, professionalism and proactive attitude
