Hi, I'm Cato , CEO at Loop , and I am hiring an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. This role is pivotal in managing company-wide accounting, audits, and regulatory bank reporting while overseeing the reconciliation of product-specific ledgers, including accounts, credit cards, and loans. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and have a deep understanding of fintech operations. This role is an onsite position at our downtown Toronto office (Adelaide and Spadina).

Where You Come In

The Financial Controller will have exposure to a variety of finance, accounting, reporting and treasury functions as well as supporting Loop’s compliance and internal audit needs. You will be responsible for managing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will play a key role in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting within a financial services environment, excellent analytical skills, and comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Accounting Management :

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including all general ledgers, month-end closes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial accounting process for consolidated and standalone operating and regulated entities
  • Conduct complete, accurate and timely accounting, reporting and analysis
  • Manage Financial and KPI reporting requirements for investors and key stakeholders
  • Actively track Loop’s key metrics and provide regular reporting and analysis to our leadership team

Treasury :

  • Oversee Loop’s treasury management function, ensuring all transactions are actioned, recorded and reconciled on a timely basis
  • Lead the management and accuracy of product-ledger reconciliations, including both customer cash accounts and lending accounts
  • Manage the preparation and filing of all required daily, monthly and annual reports as required by Loop’s financial partners
  • Develop and maintain all financial reporting processes for the company.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support other teams with internal management reporting requirements
  • Support the internal risk and compliance functions to ensure Loop is meeting its regulatory responsibilities
  • Monitor performance against budgets, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to other internal teams.
  • Internal Controls :

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and customer funds.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee compliance with all federal, provincial, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Provide Additional Cross-Functional Support :

  • Collaborate with the various teams to help with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial models and scenario analysis
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business performance.
  • Support the Operations and Sales teams with customer related queries related to transactions
  • Provide support on special projects in collaboration with the Leadership team as required
  • Assist with operational tasks such as credit evaluation, compliance evaluations and account investigations
  • What We're Looking For

  • CPA designation or equivalent preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in financial services
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong knowledge of fintech operations, including product-ledger reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for writing data queries
  • Strong financial acumen, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • You are a strong communicator and can effectively convey financial concepts and information to others
  • You are a self-starter and can work without supervision
  • You are comfortable working through ambiguous situations and managing multiple priorities

  • What we offer

  • Salary range CAD$100,000-$150,000 annual, commensurate with experience
  • Equity ranging 0.01-0.25%
