REGIONAL DIRECTOR OPERATIONS - EXTENDICARE
This role will provide operational leadership for Personal Care Homes (PCHs) in Manitoba .
The Regional Director will be a key member of the Resident Care Leadership Team helping to lead the operations in the Resident Care Division and contribute to implementing Extendicares vision of the future of seniors care in Canada.
Working in partnership with peers the Regional Director is accountable for driving operational excellence in the areas of clinical care and support services; management of operating and capital budgets; fostering a culture of service excellence; and leading and developing teams to deliver optimal services to the communities we serve.
Key Outcomes
- Serve as a strong advocate for resident safety and the ongoing improvement of quality care.
- Consistently meet or exceed all quality and clinical indicators for residents through the effective implementation and evaluation of required clinical programs.
- Consistently meet or exceed all financial KPIs through the effective management of operating and capital budgets
- Foster a positive culture and employee experience driving an increase in overall employee engagement compared to the previous year.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance regarding resident plan of care as well as organizational standards policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan and manage the operations of PCHs in the designated regionManage operating and capital budgets for the assigned region; review operational performance and ensure quality targets are metLeverage data and analytics resources to develop new insights into the business and drive improvement initiativesSupport home leadership teams in reviewing and addressing operational and quality issues with residents families and other key stakeholdersProvide consistent and meaningful leadership to PCH home leaders with clear performance expectations and targets; ensure accountability offer regular coaching and support career development and progressionIdentify skills and / or knowledge gaps within the team including succession planning for key rolesImplement engagement and retention strategies that empower team members to deliver their best workModel critical thinking problem-solving behaviours advocacy and a can do mentality to foster a high-performance team environmentIn collaboration with Quality and Risk participate in resident safety incident reviews and Quality of Care reviews including identification of contributing factors and implementation of improvement initiativesEnsure homes comply with Extendicare and government policies and regulatory standardsOversee the proactive identification of enterprise risks and support the implementation of mitigation plans in alignment with the organizations enterprise risk frameworkParticipate in the organizations resident and family satisfaction program to drive continuous improvement and ensure a consistent experience across homes in the regionFocus motivate and inspire the workforce to deliver a consistently positive resident and family experienceRequired Education Credentials and Experience
Proven operational leadership and expertise in the LTC sector including all provincial legislative and regulatory requirements guiding LTCPost-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Health Management or other related field preferredMinimum 7 years experience in progressive positions ideally in healthcare operations and / or seniors careFormal training / education and / or expertise in quality improvement theory methodologies and scienceExperience in overseeing improvement initiatives that require partnership with diverse stakeholder groupsAbility to analyze performance data to inform decision making and improve outcomesAbility to present and report out to wide range of internal and external stakeholdersAbility to understand apply and integrate legislative regulatory and quality assurance frameworks related to healthcare and seniors careExperience in leading and building high-functioning teamsExcellent interpersonal skills in consensus-building negotiation and conflict resolutionExcellent presentation oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated experience with change management and project managementPassion for person-centred care culture change and service excellenceTravel is required must have ability to travel across assigned province; occasional national travel may be required.Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain oneAt Extendicare we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential.
