Together, our Health & Wellness Specialists support employee health and wellness, working collaboratively with a variety of staff to administer the Board’s Short-term Sick Leave Program as well as the Employee Accommodation and Return to Work Program. As a central point of contact for the employee, their supervisor, health care providers and union / federation representatives, you will coordinate case management planning, communication and meetings for employees who are absent from work for longer than 11 days or absent from work on a habitual or regular basis for short periods of time due to illness, injury, or reduced work capacity. You will also provide support with Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, and Long-Term disability return to work cases. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Post-secondary degree in a related field, such as Human Resource Management, Health Science, Social Sciences and / or an equivalent level of education / training and at least 3 years of relevant, related experience. Minimum of 3 years directly related experience Current certification in one of, or eligibility for and willingness to obtain, Certified Return to Work Coordinator Designation, Certified Disability Management Designation and / or Canadian Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) Designation from an accredited association, organization and / or institution Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation, including Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act Knowledge and experience in the areas of human resources, staff wellness, rehabilitation, return to work, accommodation, WSIB claims management, and occupational health and safety.
