Job description

Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead

  • Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Oversee the mechanical designers and take responsibility the mechanical designs.
  • Develop capital cost estimates and effort hour estimates.
  • Prepare design bases, work tenders, best value options analyses, and provide input to project schedules.
  • Co-ordinate design efforts both on-site and remotely.
  • Participate in system commissioning, verification, and qualification activities.
  • Review manufacturer information to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Provide engineering support during construction to ensure technical compliance and includes reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFI’s (request for information).
  • Provide client-focused communication both written and verbal to ensure strong working relationships are fostered with clients.
  • Provide cohesive and cooperative daily interactions with our team.

Requirements :

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license to practice in Ontario Canada.
  • Permanent resident of Canada.
  • Ability to travel and work in United States.
  • Solid experience in manufacturing, process and utility environments.
  • Project management experience for multi-disciplined engineering projects.
  • Ability to multi-task while delivering multiple projects.
  • Commissioning and process start-up experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, Section VIII, API 650, 620 & 2000, NFPA 68, 69, 652 & 654 are an asset.

  • Systems Analysis - Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Specific system design skills in areas of utilities, flammable / combustible liquids, combustible dusts, bulk material handling, fluid handling, micro susceptible processes, and HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshooting capability for equipment and system start-up.
