Position Overview :
We are seeking a results-driven SEM Team Lead to oversee the execution, optimization, and management of paid search campaigns for our clients. This role will serve as a hands-on leader, driving performance, implementing best practices, and ensuring efficiency in SEM campaign execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and emerging PPC trends, with the ability to lead a team while also managing day-to-day campaign performance.
The SEM Team Lead will work closely with internal stakeholders, including Client Services Managers (CSMs) and Account Executives (AEs), to ensure paid search efforts align with client goals. This role is ideal for an SEM expert who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on execution, mentoring team members, and continuously improving SEM processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Campaign Strategy & Execution :
- Develop, implement, and optimize SEM strategies to drive ROI and efficiency.
- Oversee the daily execution of paid search campaigns across multiple clients and industries.
- Ensure best practices in keyword strategy, ad copy, bid management, budget allocation, and conversion tracking.
- Leverage automation tools (e.g., Optmyzr, Google Ads Scripts) to improve performance and scalability.
- Stay updated on SEM trends, algorithm changes, and emerging technologies to enhance campaign strategies.
Team Leadership & Development :
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SEM specialists, providing training and career growth opportunities.Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear KPIs to measure individual and team success.Foster a collaborative and data-driven approach to SEM campaign management.Campaign Audits & Performance Monitoring :
Conduct regular audits to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.Develop standardized reporting frameworks to track performance and share insights with internal teams.Provide proactive recommendations to improve campaign performance, including budget adjustments, ad copy testing, and targeting refinements.Issue Resolution & Process Improvement :
Establish a structured escalation process for identifying and addressing performance issues.Implement an alert system to notify relevant stakeholders of potential concerns, such as :Budget overruns or underspending
Low conversion rates or poor return on ad spend (ROAS)Poor ad relevance or declining quality scoresTracking errors or technical issuesWork closely with CSMs and AEs to ensure campaign adjustments align with client expectations.Collaboration & Communication :
Partner with Client Services, Sales, and Digital Strategy teams to align SEM efforts with broader marketing goals.Collaborate with data analysts to build dashboards and reporting tools for real-time performance insights.Act as the SEM subject matter expert, providing training and guidance to internal teams on paid search best practices.Qualifications & Experience :
5+ years of experience in SEM / PPC campaign management, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or mentorship role.Proven track record of improving ROI and driving growth through paid search campaigns.Expertise in Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Google Analytics, and SEM automation tools.Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision-making.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams.Preferred Skills :
Experience managing SEM campaigns for e-commerce, lead generation, or multi-location businesses.Knowledge of landing page optimization, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and A / B testing.Google Ads certification (preferred but not required).This role is ideal for a hands-on SEM professional looking to take the next step in their career by leading a team while staying actively involved in campaign execution.
