Merit Services is seeking a skilled Marine Researcher to join our client’s dynamic team in St. John’s. As a Marine Researcher, you will engage in advanced scientific investigations, gather and examine data, and actively contribute towards the preservation and sustainable governance of our marine ecosystems. RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct marine research projects with the aim of investigating different facets of marine ecosystems and species.
- Obtain information via on-site research, ocean surveys, and controlled experiments in a scientific setting.
- Examine and understand research outcomes by applying statistical techniques and dedicated scientific software.
- Research the effects of climate change, human actions, and environmental factors on marine ecosystems.
- Work together with diverse research teams in different fields to combine data and solve intricate marine research inquiries.
- Make your research findings known by sharing them in scientific journals that are reviewed by your peers, as well as by presenting your results at conferences and seminars.
- Make valuable contributions to the creation of research proposals and successfully obtain funding for projects focused on marine research.
- Offer professional guidance and suggestions to influence marine conservation policies and practices.
- Get involved in outreach and educational programs aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of marine science and the importance of conservation.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Higher education options : Master’s degree or Doctorate degree. A degree in Marine Biology, Oceanography, or a closely related discipline is required.Demonstrated proficiency in performing marine research, particularly in the realm of marine ecosystems and biodiversity.Expertise in the gathering and evaluation of data, encompassing techniques pertinent to oceanography as well as statistical software.A deep understanding of marine organisms, their environments, and the interconnections within marine ecosystems.Fluency in conveying complicated scientific ideas to a wide range of people through effective written and verbal communication abilities.The aptitude to operate autonomously as well as collectively within a research group.Excellent organizational and time management abilities essential for meeting project deadlines.It is desirable to have knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and frameworks for marine conservation.Having hands-on experience in the field and being familiar with marine research vessels are valuable qualities.BENEFITS :
