What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Investment Decisions, the Senior Financial Analyst role supports driving profitability and prudent financial decisions for the Canadian Tire Retail (CTR) banner.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in financial analysis to provide key insights and recommendations on new CTR projects and current business segments.

  • Support the CTR business to drive prudent decision-making through financial analysis
  • Develop financial models to evaluate new projects and investments, analyze profitability and provide financial recommendations
  • Critically evaluate project revenue and cost assumptions
  • Anticipate and support evolving financial performance reporting needs
  • Communicate your findings to various levels of management including senior leadership
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required
  • Coach and mentor junior staff

What you bring

  • University Degree in Finance, Analytics, or business-related discipline
  • 3 or more years of relevant in financial planning & analysis, consulting, or strategy in a retail environment
  • Strong proficiency in Excel financial modeling (IRR, NPV, payback period)
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL and best data practices
  • Ability to efficiently work and analyze large datasets
  • Knime, Python, Power BI are considered an asset
  • Independent, attentive to detail and a self-starter to deliver quality results
  • Ability to present to key stakeholders and senior leadership to move initiatives forward
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Critical thinker and problem solver to be able to connect the dots and see the big picture’
  • Ability to synthesize and present concise financial analysis to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold, strategic moves in a rapidly evolving retail environment
