About the Role :
As Privacy Analyst you provide a crucial role in safeguarding data privacy practices. You are responsible for analyzing and ensuring that the handling, storage, and dissemination of personal information comply with relevant privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards.
This full-time term opportunity would be based out of our Head office with a possibility for hybrid or remote work.
Here's What You'll be Doing :
- Assisting the Chief Privacy Officer with oversight of the Bank’s Privacy program.
- Conducting thorough privacy impact assessments and audits to evaluate compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive privacy policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborating with IT and security teams to ensure that data protection measures are effectively integrated into technology platforms and business processes.
- Monitoring changes in privacy legislation and adapting company policies to maintain compliance.
- Providing guidance and training to staff on privacy matters, including data handling and breach response protocols.
- Assisting with the management of data subject access requests, ensuring timely and compliant processing.
- Investigating and responding to privacy incidents and breaches, including coordinating with legal, IT and communication teams as necessary.
- Advising on privacy implications during the development and launch of new products or services.
- Collaborating with vendors and third parties to ensure their practices align with the organization's privacy standards.
- Conducting regular privacy risk assessments and recommending mitigating strategies to management.
- Documenting and maintaining records of all privacy-related processes and decisions for accountability and audit purposes.
- Generating regular reports and documentation on the privacy program's status, risks, and compliance.
Qualifications Required
About You :
- An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or related field.
- 3 years’ experience working in a privacy role.
- Privacy certifications considered an asset, e.g. CIPP.
- Communication communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ethical maintains a high standard of excellence when dealing with ethical, legal, or regulatory issues.
- Detail oriented.
- Analytical.
What Will Make You Stand Out :
- Knowledge of federal and provincial privacy laws and guidelines in Canada, including Bill C-27 and Law 25.
- Knowledge of OSFI regulations including B-13 (Technology and Cyber Risk) and B-10 (Third-Party Risk Management).
- Familiarity with privacy risk management and compliance, the ability to draft privacy related policies and procedures, and the competence to provide privacy related guidance where required.
- Demonstrated strength in organizational and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
