Accountant (Remote)

Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Remote Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. As a key contributor, you will work closely with senior management to support budgeting, reporting, and strategic financial planning—all from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Process invoices, payments, and payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.

• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

• Coordinate with external auditors and support the annual audit process.

• Monitor cash flow and manage accounts receivable/payable.

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve financial systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Zoho Books.

• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines.

• Good communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a remote or digital environment.

• Experience working with multiple currencies and global clients is a plus.

• Prior experience in a tech or service-based company is advantageous.

Working Hours

• Flexible working hours with core availability required between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (EST).

• Monday to Friday schedule; weekends off.

• Fully remote with periodic virtual team meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of accounting regulations (GAAP/IFRS).

• Familiarity with cloud-based financial systems and digital workflow tools.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
