Our client working in the Non-Profit space is hiring for a Bilingual Research Officer to join their team on a 1 year contract. This is working in a primarily remote environment but the successful candidate must be located in Ottawa as there may be onsite requirements.Conduct research to support collective bargaining and campaigns, including data analysis and proposal drafting.
Develop surveys and analyze member input related to bargaining and workplace issues.
Monitor and report on changes in employment legislation, federal policies, and trends impacting members.
Prepare policy documents, briefing notes, and articles for internal and external audiences.
Represent the organization at inter-union and employer meetings.
Support the coordination and communication of open bargaining processes, including member meetings and reporting mechanisms.
Provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Master’s degree in industrial relations, political science, economics, sociology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
4–7 years of relevant experience, ideally in a union, government, or advocacy setting.
Strong knowledge of the labor movement, socio-economic justice, and collective bargaining practices.
Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
Demonstrated experience conducting applied research, analyzing labor data, and writing policy/research briefs.
Strong facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills.
