Job Description

The Senior Payroll Compliance Advisor's primary role is to offer expertise, support, guidance, and training on Canadian payroll legislation to both members and non-members.

This position aligns with our clients Strategy, aiming to establish the organization as the foremost authority in the Canadian payroll profession.

Key responsibilities include maintaining government contacts, analyzing new and existing legislation at both provincial and federal levels, and identifying any gaps in members' understanding of these laws.

The Advisor will make recommendations for changes where necessary.

Additionally, the Advisor will lead our client's professional development initiatives, including seminars, corporate training, and webinars.

They will also ensure payroll information is current for our client's Professional Standards and Education programs. The role involves contributing to articles and discussion papers, and analyzing legislative changes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable information, guidance, and assistance to the our clients members on payroll compliance and related topics
  • Conduct necessary research utilizing government contacts, online resources, and other relevant sources.
  • Document findings with supporting evidence or applicable resources for future reference.
  • Communicate and review with the Manager of Compliance Services any inquiries or issues that require in-depth research or specific expertise.
  • Categorize and record all information requests using the Institute’s Integrated Management Information System (iMIS).
  • Use experience and results to identify member needs, such as new programs, articles, payroll best practice guidelines, and develop questions and answers for Dialogue (Q&A) and consulting services.
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues to ensure the retention of valuable intellectual capital within the organization through cross-training

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance knowledge across Canada
  • Strong knowledge of interpreting technical legislation (Acts and Regulations)

policies and procedures

Strong knowledge of MS Office in Windows environment. (i.e., Word, Excel,

PowerPoint Outlook, etc.

Fluently bilingual is required, English and French, both written and

spoken

Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional

PLP) certification.

Post-secondary education A university degree or college diploma (in

the related disciplines of Administration, Business, Communications, or

equivalent) would be desirable.
