Vice President, Wealth – Global Risk Management
Purpose
Contributes to the sound asset growth and profits of the centres, subsidiaries and / or affiliates by ensuring the assigned portfolios of Global Wealth Management loans is maintained in sound condition and is within the Bank's current credit policy, and by ensuring the supporting documentation provides adequate credit protection.
Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Adjudicates on credits within assigned limits (as a designated Credit Officer), provides recommendations for over limit / out-of-policy deals to the Senior Credit Committees, and authorizes waivers, amendments and non-standard documentation.
- Ensures well founded and profitable growth in the Global Wealth Management credit portfolios by : developing local lending policies and strategies and cascades these to appropriate business development groups; providing sound and timely decisions on applications for credit, within assigned lending limits, through thorough analysis with suitable structure, pricing, conditions, and security stipulated; ensuring loans are priced to be profitable, competitive, and yielding a return commensurate with risk; monitoring results against plans, pursuing corrective action where necessary; and Being alert to other market opportunities.
- Ensures that the existing portfolios are maintained at a level of acceptable quality and risk by : regularly monitoring the assigned portfolio and approved credits on a geographic, industry, and customer / product basis, ensuring adherence to condition of credit, identifying issues and taking remedial action in a timely manner; alerting senior leaders to unsatisfactory trends and recommending suitable courses of action; and, monitoring adherence to regulatory and internal policies as applicable.
- Contributes to the governance of Canadian Wealth Management advisory services as a voting membership in the Canadian Wealth Management Product Risk Committee and Product Due Diligence Committee.
- Provides subject matter expertise to regional Chief Risk Officers and Credit Risk Management units and contributes to the development and implementation of International Wealth Management lending programs.
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which his / her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience
Graduate University degree in business or economicsThorough knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies, procedures, and practices;10-15 years of relevant work experience;Given the accountabilities for Latin American and Quebec markets, Spanish and / or French language skills are an asset;International experience is an asset;In-depth understanding of : Wealth Management businesses and credit risk management in general; multiple Retail, Small Business, Private Banking, Wealth Management, and Commercial products and associated policies / procedures including branch, underwriting, collection centre, adjudication, and credit risk management units; credit risk administration policies / practices and strategies; legislative and marketplace issues relative to credit risk management; loan loss provisioning for individual credits and overall portfolio loss rates;
