Quality Assurance Specialist

Position Summary

The Naval ISS Quality Assurance Specialist applies technical knowledge and expertise with respect to Quality Assurance and Quality Control and is responsible for ensuring that the Thales Chorus 2.0 business management system and program quality processes are implemented and effective in delivering quality across assigned projects.

The Naval ISS Quality Assurance Specialist works closely with the Naval ISS Quality Assurance Manager to help develop a culture of quality and customer satisfaction and will help to identify and implement continuous improvement actions in order to meet the objectives of operational performance and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Plan and lead quality assurance and quality control activities on the AJISS project
• Ensure incoming material and project deliverables comply with the Customer's requirements and with the applicable regulations and standards.
• Participate in quality team activities in support of ISO 9001 : 2015 Certification audits and assessments.
• Lead internal and supplier audits, work with suppliers to improve their quality and performance.
• Support and engage with our client's Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs) for audits, inspections, non-conformances, corrective actions, and other quality related inquiries.
• Support the project teams in applying processes, identifying risks and resolving problems.
• Investigate quality related problems by applying the Eight Disciplines (8D) Problem Solving approach to determine possible root causes and corrective actions to drive resolution of found non-conformances.
• Evaluate subcontractors' quality procedures and services. Prepare written reports of any subcontracted work that fails inspection.
• Read, interpret, and apply technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals.
• Assist and participate in witness / hold points ensuring subcontractors and material are in compliance with the contract / specification.
• Assist and review submittals of inspection test plans, maintains quality records and other QA documentation as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Primarily office work. Some physical labour related to incoming and final inspection of material. Some field work possible at the dockyard and on ships.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 85,000.00 - 100,000.00 CAD Annual.

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including - but not limited to - the employee's career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company's annual salary budget, the customer's program requirements, and the company's internal equity.
