Hours : 41 hours per week, 8 : 00am – 5 : 00pm Monday to Friday, with Tuesdays 8 : 00am – 6 : 15pm. Training hours (June) will differ.
Employee Group : Non-Union
Salary : $18.75 – $20.54 per hour

PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Provide safe supervision and leadership for children and youth ages 4–17 with age-appropriate, well-planned games and activities for designated camp groups. Serve as a role model and mentor for Leader‑In‑Training, Camp Helpers, and Junior Camp Leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the City of Belleville professionally.
- Ensure safety and supervision of participants, following all rules and regulations.
- Develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate daily activities in assigned camp.
- Supervise and evaluate Leaders‑In‑Training and volunteers within camp.
- Act as a role model and assist Camp Helpers and Junior Leaders as needed.
- Contact parents and communicate regularly.
- Problem‑solve and provide quality customer service.
- Handle equipment, supplies, and facilities; report damage or losses to the Camp Coordinator.
- Maintain daily cleanliness of the facility.
- Complete required administrative forms (injury forms, daily diaries, supply requests, permission forms, special event forms, etc.).
- Participate in daily activities with campers (including swimming).
- Evaluate program success, submit reports, and provide timely feedback to the Camp Coordinator.
- Attend all staff training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.
- Provide timely, accurate information to the Camp Coordinator and respond appropriately to decisions and directions.
- Make decisions around child safety, supervision, activity planning, camper behavior management, and program evaluation, ensuring all incidents are documented and forwarded to the Camp Coordinator.
- Perform all tasks through the lens of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Post‑secondary student or graduate studying recreation or a child‑related field.Valid current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.Valid High Five, Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.Minimum of two (2) years / seasons of experience as a Junior Program Leader or equivalent working with children in a recreational or educational setting.Experience with program / lesson planning, design, development, and implementation of age‑appropriate activities.ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Supervisory experience.Valid “G” Driver’s License and reliable vehicle (required for some positions).Bronze Cross, National Lifeguard, or Swim Instructor swimming qualification.NCCP Coaching certifications.Experience as a sport referee or official.Experience as a theatre participant or volunteer.Valid current National Lifeguard certification.ORCA certifications.SENIOR CAMP LEADER (GENERAL)

Stage 1 – Interviews : Scheduled between February 20, 2026 and February 22, 2026.
Stage 2 – Offer Letter and Onboarding Paperwork : Offered before the end of March 2026, with return dates specified.
Stage 3 – Start Date : Anticipated beginning June 6, 2026 to June 28, 2026 (training, reduced schedule), regular schedule from June 29, 2026 to September 4, 2026.
