With a commitment to innovation and excellence, our Ontario location is expanding its operations to Food Chemistry. Therefore we are seeking a highly initiative, qualified and an experienced individual in GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) to join our team as a Food Chemistry Lab Specialist.
Job Summary :
The successful candidate will be responsible for the method development, validation and participating in the accreditation assessment process, then eventually overseeing the day-to-day operations of the food chemistry laboratory, ensuring the accuracy, reliability of analytical results and Turnaround Times. This position requires a strong background in food chemistry, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive continuous streamlining and optimizing laboratory processes.
Responsibilities : Lab Organization :
- Plan, coordinate and implement food chemistry laboratory set up as per ISO 17025 requirements.
- Assist with the purchase of equipment and materials for lab activities and ensures budget goals are met.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain, trouble shoot instruments. Implement and manage preventative maintenance and analyst training program for laboratory instruments
Supervision and Training :
Recruit, train and supervise lab technicians. Make sure that the lab team follows industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing test samples.Provide guidance and support to team members in instrument analysis and troubleshootingFoster a lab culture of excellence and teamwork.Method Development and Validation :
Develop, validate and document Standard Operating Procedures for food chemistry testing.Must possess effective problem solving skills to optimize the use of the resources and to handle any issues that may ariseStay abreast of food industry trends and advancements to implement best lab practices in the lab.Quality Control :
Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of test results.Monitor and address any deviations from established standards.Perform nonconformance investigation and provide responses to Quality Assurance DepartmentCollaboration :
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Customer services, Business Development, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs.Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Provide technical and instrumental support to operationsQualifications
Master's Degree in Science or equivalent experience is required5+ years hands on food laboratory experienceExperience with GC-FID, HPLC, and ICPMS instrumentationAbility to problem solve, coach, organizeExperience with method development and method validation proceduresKnowledge of CFIA inspections and auditsKnowledge of full laboratory processesAdvanced Computer SkillsAbility to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environmentWork Environment
This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
