We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Director of Manufacturing Strategy & Operations to lead the transformation and scaling of our manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing small electronic devices and a proven ability to develop and execute a transformative manufacturing vision.
This role is critical for scaling our operations, optimizing our supply chain, and achieving our production and quality goals.
The Director of Manufacturing Strategy & Operations will be based in Fredericton, with the opportunity to travel internationally for research, benchmarking and partnership development.
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and execute a transformative manufacturing vision for the next 3-5 years.
- Lead the actions required to scale existing operations while achieving the new vision.
Operational Excellence :
- Optimize lab-scale manufacturing for scalability and implement cost-effective, innovative methods.
- Outsource and manage relationships with contract manufacturers and assembly partners.
- Set benchmark expectations, hold teams accountable, and deliver progress reports.
- Develop procedures to minimize errors and quality issues, ensuring deliverables meet budgets and timelines.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize product design for scalable manufacturing.
- Oversee logistics, inventory management, vendor relations, and warehouse operations, while enhancing supply chain efficiency to support growth.
Team Management :
- Drive a step change in team productivity while ensuring a smooth transition to new performance expectations and operating culture.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, including assembly, quality assurance, calibration, and supply chain.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Manage recruitment, hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, finance, and engineering to align team efforts with business needs and market demands.
Quality and Compliance :
- Ensure production meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with ISO 9001 : 2015 as well as federal and provincial regulations.
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
Qualifications :
- 10 years of experience in leading high-quality manufacturing assembly operations.
- Energetic and engaging personality with a natural propensity for strong daily management and leading change.
- Proven ability to develop and execute a transformative manufacturing vision, with excellent strategic planning, project management, and process improvement skills.
- Strong background in outsourcing manufacturing processes and supply chain optimization.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Willingness to be based in Fredericton with international travel for benchmarking and partnership development. Relocation assistance will be considered.
