Are you a skilled and experienced administrative professional with a passion for leadership and senior level coordination? The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking a Senior Administrative Coordinator (SAC) to support the effective operations of the Deputy Minister's Office and provide senior administrative leadership across the Department.
This role offers the unique opportunity to work at the heart of government operations, liaising with the Minister's Office, Premier's Office, and GNWT Deputy Ministers, and providing critical guidance and mentorship to administrative staff across the department.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Deputy Minister's Office.
- Coordinate Executive and Senior Management Committee meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
- Support hiring, training, and mentoring of administrative staff and summer / casual employees across the department.
- Ensure compliance with GNWT communication standards and protocols in all correspondence and documentation.
- Manage complex scheduling, briefing materials, and administrative priorities for the Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Ministers.
- Lead the delivery of the Administrative Professionals Training Program and facilitate mentorship opportunities.
- Maintain and develop administrative procedural manuals and corporate messaging tools.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive materials, including Cabinet and FMB meeting documents.
- Provide departmental leadership on administrative efficiency, succession planning, and process improvement.
Key Requirements and Qualifications :
Office Administration Diploma and two (2) years of relevant experience.We would also consider the following equivalencies :
An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or a related discipline.A high school diploma and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative role.Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, along with two (2) years of directly related experience.The GNWT offers a competitive salary, an annual northern living allowance, a generous defined benefit pension plan, and health / dental benefits in addition to relocation assistance.
