Graduate Airport Planner (Available 2026)
The opportunity to contribute to Arup’s global advisory and technical work in airport planning. We seek graduates who see things differently to help plan and design the future of aviation with a focus on sustainable outcomes.
- Perform capacity and / or demand assessments for planning studies using various tools, methods and techniques
- Develop spatial requirements and program development for infrastructure and facilities planning
- CAD and graphic support with a focus on terminal planning, with involvement in airside and landside planning
- Develop planning drawings and edit architectural floor plans and sections
- Assist with reviews of forecast demand, including planning flight schedules and peak hour demand
- Collect and collate data from surveys, benchmark studies and other sources to support planning studies
- Assist in preparation of reports, presentations and deliverables including illustrations, tables and drawings to communicate technical ideas graphically for a wide range of clients
- Generate and contribute to planning and operational reports and provide advice to planning and design teams, airports and airline clients
- Project work includes significant sophisticated airport developments globally
- Analyze and summarize policy and standard documents and background studies
- Research and analyze trends and standard processes related to airport planning
Is this role right for you?
Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Architecture, Urban or Transportation Planning, Aviation Planning, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or related fieldsInterest and / or experience in airports and aviationExperience and proficiency with CAD platforms (AutoCAD / MicroStation), Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and ExcelAbility to read and understand 3D spatial models and edit architectural floor plans and sectionsLogical and critical thinking, with ability to produce graphics to simplify complex ideasGood written and verbal communication skills for team-based workAbility to work with high-level architectural and master planning conceptsExcellent planning and organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environmentHighly motivated, proactive and willing to address new challengesMust be eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship now or in the futurePreferred
