Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of automation systems, including controls, electrical, and pneumatic design.

  • Prepare detailed automation proposals, specify components, and manage testing, commissioning, and validation.

  • Install, program, and integrate PLCs, HMIs, robots, drives, sensors, and vision systems, ensuring compliance with internal and customer standards.

  • Program and maintain Fanuc, Yaskawa, and Kuka robots for welding and material handling (online/offline using CIM Station, Fanuc WeldPro, MotoSim, and Robot Studio).

  • Conduct ROI studies and present automation proposals for approval.

  • Integrate hardware and software systems to optimize throughput, reduce cycle times, and improve process efficiency.

  • Prepare documentation, work instructions, and training materials for production and maintenance teams.

  • Support new equipment installations, design reviews, and run-at-rate milestones to meet internal and customer PPAP standards.

  • Troubleshoot electrical, electromechanical, and control issues in collaboration with maintenance teams.

  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives (8D, 5 Whys, RCA, CI).

  • Contribute to APQP meetings and support DFM, PFMEA, control plans, and process capability studies.

  • Ensure safety compliance with OHSA, ESA, and CSA standards.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or College Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or Robotics.

  • P.Eng. designation (or eligibility) is an asset.

  • PMP certification is desirable.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in controls and automation within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, and ladder logic.

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Omron, and Siemens PLCs and HMIs.

  • Working knowledge of industrial networks, machine safety circuits, VFDs, DC/Servo drive systems, and motion control.

  • Experience with vision systems, MIG/spot welding, or tube bending is an asset.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, including advanced Excel (macros, VBA preferred).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel as required for installations, training, and project support.

Why Join This Team:

  • Opportunity to lead automation initiatives within a technologically advanced manufacturing environment.

  • Collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • Long-term stability with opportunities for career advancement.
