About The Role

Kanopi Studios is seeking a WordPress Technical Lead (aka Senior Engineer II) to join our collaborative, fun, and fully distributed team. In this leadership role, you'll drive technical execution across client projects, mentor developers, shape architectural decisions, and ensure delivery excellence—all while getting to build alongside a talented team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical approach on WordPress projects and ensure development is on track and aligned with client needs
• Collaborate with UX, design, and PM teams during the discovery and planning phases
• Build and configure WordPress sites using modern development practices
• Develop native Gutenberg blocks using React and build custom themes and plugins
• Create HTML templates and patterns optimized for full‑site editing
• Provide architectural guidance and mentor team members
• Write and review code and technical documentation
• Lead code peer reviews and encourage team best practices
• Meet directly with clients to clarify requirements and discuss technical challenges and solutions
• Manage the technical team's workload and offer continuity across phases of the project lifecycle

Compensation & Work Requirements

This is a full‑time position. The salary range for this position is $92,050 - $111,900, commensurate with experience and may shift based on geographic location. This is a 100% remote role, but you must live and be able to work in the US or Canada.
