Job Title : Data Architect, Analytics

Location : Toronto, ON

Type : Permanent full time role

Other : Travel up to 25% : Belgium, France, Italy, USA

Our client is seeking a Data Architect to join their Analytics team.

This role requires a solid set of skills in Supply Chain Management; Analytics; Data Architecture and world class client facing / presentations skills. This is a freshly created role within a large Enterprise environment (Information Technology; Manufacturing). We are now welcoming applications from individuals in a managed services / professional services environment in supply chain (forward supply chain and / or reverse supply chain). Experience in an Analytical role would also be considered.

Role :

Responsible for the information architecture of the common data hub that enables analytics within the advanced customer solutions team including :

  • Design, creation, setup, management of data hub
  • Evaluation and selection of technology
  • Ownership of the vision and prioritized capability roadmap for creation of the data hub
  • Ensures that data models are universal and common across all strategic elements of the managed services / professional services portfolio.
  • Proactively anticipates the data elements needed to support the analytics capability roadmap
  • Leads and facilitates cost benefit analysis and discussion to establish the business priority of specific data elements
  • Maintains detailed accounting of artifacts and data elements that are available
  • Challenges the technical barriers driving data quality and data availability gaps
  • Evaluates and introduces new technology
  • Manages IT development projects and initiatives across client, internal, and partner orgs.

Accountabilities

This role is directly accountable for the initial connectivity, quality, and ongoing availability of all information needed to support professional and managed services.   This role is jointly accountable for overall growth of the managed professional services business portfolio.

Scope & Complexity

Role has a broad scope and high complexity :

  • Need to be plugged into multiple simultaneous projects to pull out commonality across complex client problems that span the full breadth of supply chain.
  • Need to facilitate win-win alignment of data hub vision with all of these projects
  • Combined role of hands-on build and run responsibility with ownership of technology roadmap
  • Autonomy

    Need to be a self-starter, comfortable working with individual contributors at all levels across our organization and our partner organizations.

    Impact of Decisions

    Customer Analytics is a key strategic capability.   This position is critical to enable strategic growth objectives.   Decisions affecting the success / failure of client engagements as well as decisions affecting the success / failure of capability roadmaps will have a lasting multi-year impact.

    The successful candidate should have :

  • Proven track record for designing and building information flows that fuel a successful portfolio of analytic investigations
  • Demonstrated ability to find commonality across disparate initiatives and build out critical interconnections that enable a strategic business vision
  • Proven ability to engage and negotiate with senior stakeholders in client, internal and partner organizations
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to keep teams focused and prioritized
  • Knowledge of SCM process and principles (end to end) with familiarity with various customer industries
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic and chaotic environments; is fueled by a desire to ask important questions and learn
  • IT system and tool savvy
  • Experienced with database optimization
  • Must Have Skill Requirements

    Candidates should have between 7 to 10 years of previous, recent and related experience in the following areas of expertise :

  • Linking, Connecting and Arranging : Enjoys putting context to information.   Naturally seeks and finds connections between disparate activities to build creative solutions to complex problems. Loves managing multiple variables and figuring out the best way to get things done
  • Learner : Compulsion to inquire and ask questions; Inspired by the trill of learning; comfortable in dynamic environments and new areas
  • Focus and Determination : Creates clear priorities and facilitates tough discussions to maintain team alignment
  • Broad SCM knowledge
  • Information Flow (Analytics) : Understanding of information flow behind a process and how to leverage an understanding of that information to support strategic analytics
  • IT technology savvy : Subject matter expert on data modeling, query writing, data warehousing, database optimization, familiarity and passion for technology (e.g.   cloud, hosted platforms, data mining, etc.)
  • Education Requirements

    University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business.
