Corporate Controller

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL)

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative with dairy processing plants and a retail food distribution facility across Prince Edward Island (PEI). For over 70 years, ADL has been dedicated to transforming fresh milk from local PEI farms into premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and canned milk. Our products grace kitchens and restaurants throughout PEI and Canada.

Position Overview :

The Corporate Controller is a senior member of the Finance Team, reporting directly to the CFO. Responsible for leading accounting staff across multiple locations, this role plays a critical part in financial strategy, compliance, and decision-making. The Corporate Controller collaborates closely with Senior Management to ensure timely financial reporting that aligns with the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises and CRA requirements.

Location : This role can be based in either Charlottetown or Summerside, PE .

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and mentor accounting teams across all company locations.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to develop and drive financial strategies.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, ensuring compliance with industry standards and tax regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of internal and external accounting reports, including audited financial statements and tax returns.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Provide strategic guidance on regulatory compliance, information system needs, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Consult with public accountants on audits, tax preparation, and financial reviews.

Qualifications :

  • CPA designation required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong background in accounting systems, budgeting, internal controls, and business planning.
  • Proven experience in coaching and developing employees.
  • Commitment to excellence and detail-orientation, with the ability to deliver accurate information and balanced analysis in a timely manner.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, with strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and accounting-based software.
  • Compensation and Benefits :

  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience, with a range of $90,000 - $100,000 based on minimum qualifications, negotiable for those with greater experience.
