Modern Technical Staffing is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering consulting firm with operations in Ontario and Quebec. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer to join their growing Civil Infrastructure Group in Etobicoke, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to take on a leadership role, delivering technically challenging projects while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
About the Role
As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will lead the technical and commercial delivery of bridge and civil structure projects across Ontario. You will be responsible for guiding project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving project success from concept through to construction.
This role is ideal for a senior professional with deep technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and experience on Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) projects.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and civil structure projects, including new construction, rehabilitation, and retrofit works.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to intermediate and junior engineers, ensuring high-quality outputs and professional growth.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring successful completion within scope and client expectations.
• Oversee the preparation and review of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, tender packages, and technical reports.
• Conduct and manage OSIM inspections and assessments for MTO and municipal bridge structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural solutions into larger civil infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submissions.
• Contribute to business development activities, including client relationships, proposals, and pursuit of new opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in bridge engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario (mandatory).
• Experience leading at least two MTO bridge projects from design to completion.
• Extensive knowledge of CHBDC, MTO standards, codes, and specifications.
• Strong technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and construction of bridges.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to manage and inspire teams.
• Proficiency with design and drafting software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
• MTO RAQS qualification (Structures – Design & Evaluation) or the ability to obtain it.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused mindset.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Bilingual proficiency in French is considered an asset but not required.
