The Opportunity : WSP is seeking an accomplished Group Manager to lead our Prairies Downstream Remediation Program Management (RPM) team. This senior leadership role is pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and delivering strategic business objectives, all while driving the continued growth of our sector.

You will also be supported by an administrative assistant and client leads. As the team evolves, you will play a key role in establishing and recruiting future team leads, developing leadership capacity as our group continues to grow.

Why Join Remediation Program Management

WSP’s RPM team ranks among WSP Canada’s most established and dynamic specialized groups, with over 15 years of expertise in contaminated site program management, serving the world’s most technically demanding clients. With a consistent backlog of 9 to 12 months and ongoing expansion, our team specializes in Phase I / II ESAs, remediation, and risk assessment, all underpinned by exceptional program delivery. We tackle some of the largest projects nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster Collaboration & Inclusion : Cultivate an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are respected and innovation flourishes.
  • Drive Growth : Align team objectives with broader organizational goals and proactively identify opportunities for expansion within our sectors.
  • Steward Organizational & Financial Objectives : Monitor and implement measures to meet project delivery timelines, recruit and retain talent, promote technical excellence, and advance digital tools. Optimize financial performance through utilization, labor management, revenue, and margin metrics.
  • Talent Development : Promote professional growth through mentoring, skill-building, career progression, as well as recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
  • Mentoring Excellence : Offer clear, consistent guidance so team members excel in their roles and contribute meaningfully to WSP’s success, reflecting our Guiding Principles.
  • Client Relationship Management : Strengthen existing client relationships and pursue new opportunities by delivering exceptional service and acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Safety & Compliance Leadership : Champion a proactive safety culture that not only meets all regulatory and company standards but actively pioneers innovative tools, practices, and preventative measures. Through leadership and creative thinking, set new benchmarks for safety performance and cultivate an environment where incident prevention and employee well-being are always at the forefront.
  • Project Delivery Excellence : Lead best practices in project execution in accordance with WSP’s Project Delivery Framework, OurWay.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Build strong interdepartmental relationships, encourage knowledge sharing, and promote integrated problem-solving. Regularly collaborate with other RPM managers on operational initiatives, project delivery, and team leadership alignment.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 10 years of experience in environmental / engineering consulting, ideally specializing in contaminated sites, risk assessment, and remediation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in contaminated sites projects.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Availability to travel within the Prairies provinces to engage with RPM team members and clients.
  • Proven commitment to Health & Safety standards and practices, with a track record of promoting an inclusive and diverse work environment that prioritizes safety, respect, and well-being for all team members.
  • Self-motivated leader with excellent inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
