What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada’s first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
As a Component Testing Manager, you will be responsible for safe and successful delivery of Component Testing activities for DNNP. Working as a member of the Commissioning Project team you will support the business in defining the procedures and manage the team to execute the tests. The role will require interaction with DNNP teams and external partners, to manage shared resources and interdependencies.
What You'll Do Here :
- Lead the preparation and execution of Component Testing.
- Plan, scope, and detail all component testing activity scheduled for DNNP.
- Proactively monitor progress against the plan and schedule, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- Participate to plant walk-downs and on-plant work to support Installation and Commissioning activities.
- Ensuring all Commissioning tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with the relevant Commissioning, work management, safe system of work and risk assessment processes.
- Ensuring all Commissioning work is carried out in accordance with the relevant Engineering and Commissioning processes and management system documents.
- Effectively manage day-to-day liaison with plant stakeholders to obtain all the necessary work execution and plant isolation permissions to allow Commissioning work to be performed.
- Support the close-out of engineering related actions and audits.
- Identify appropriate engineering standards and practices to be used for the delivery of Commissioning and Pre-Operations work.
- Maintain technical competence and currency with respect to modern standards and methodologies relevant to Commissioning practices.

What You Bring to the Table :
Professional Engineer (PEng) or equivalent appropriate professional qualification.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Prior experience acting as a Commissioning manager on process systems and equipment on large nuclear new build projects.Relevant experience and training in the Commissioning of systems and equipment and all nuclear safety and plant isolation aspects of Commissioning.Broad knowledge of nuclear industry consensus standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to Commissioning areas with a full understanding of underlying principles.Proven ability to manage and prioritize own workload against multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.Ability to ensure minimum standards and fundamental process requirements are maintained when under pressure to deliver and ability to challenge others at all levels of the organization.Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.We strongly encourage applicants who identify as Indigenous to apply to work with us on the Darlington New Nuclear Project.
