Senior Manager, Finance
Reporting into the Director Finance, TELUS Health
Responsibilities
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes for TELUS Health, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in the ERP systems
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, driven by continuous professional development and training.
Implement streamlined processes to increase efficiency and accuracy, with a focus on continuous improvement
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of financial disclosures to corporate headquarters in accordance with IFRS
Assist corporate controller with ad hoc inquiries from Leadership Team or other management personnel regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
Review and / or prepare technical accounting memos for key accounting matters and decisions.
Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulations; implement and adhere to SOX controls to ensure compliance
Liaise with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit processes and walkthroughs
Assist in development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. Provide training and support to finance teams on financial processes and systems.
Support cross-functional strategic initiatives and projects by providing financial insights and recommendations to support decision making.
Partner with senior management to drive financial performance and growth.
Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage budgets
Provide guidance for partners within the business on appropriate accounting treatment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior or management role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Experience in technical accounting research and documentation of company’s position on complex accounting matters
- Experience with SAP or Workday ERP is considered a strong asset.
- Strong financial acumen and project management skills
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Strong people manager and relationship builder
- Able to work effectively across organizational lines and promotes an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels of the organization.
- Sets high standard for team and ensures high quality outcomes are achieved.
- English proficiency, verbal and written.
- Strong Excel, Word, and other MS office application skills
