TORONTO – Senior Structural Engineer, Buildings
WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Structural Engineering Group in Toronto or Thornhill. This role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to translate design solutions from proposal through to constructed projects across various Sectors. The position may include a client-facing component and exposure to project management practices.
What you’ll do
- Perform engineering calculations and assessments for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures under supervision
- Perform calculations using the latest design software and finite element modelling with strong fundamental principles
- Demonstrate knowledge of the OBC and NBC
- Oversee preparation of detail drawings, sections, standard details, specifications, and ensure quality delivery
- Write technical reports
- Conduct field reviews, inspections, and condition assessments
- Aid in the preparation of proposals
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to developing the next generation of talent
- Develop innovative and elegant solutions for new and existing structures
- Approach projects with curiosity and a client-centric mindset
- Promote diversity and inclusion in work environment and designs
- Advance computational design and integration between graphical and analytical structural models
- Occasional travel within Canada for project-related work, site assessments and site support
- Other duties as assigned
About You
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural EngineeringRegistered Professional Engineer with PEO or application in progress7-15 years’ experience in Structural EngineeringDesign experience on institutional, healthcare, science, transportation, industrial, or private sector commercial or residential projectsDynamic, innovative, proactive, solution-driven mindsetClient-centric, energetic, and responsiveStrong teamwork, empathy, and service excellenceExcellent organizational and technical writing skillsValid driver’s licenseValue Add
