THE ORGANIZATION
The Country Heritage Park, Centres for Early Learning is located in Milton, Halton Region, Ontario, Canada, and is a fully-licensed childcare centre, which provides programs for children ages 3 years to 9 years of age. Children receive care designed to help them develop their academic, emotional and social skills, and grow the foundations they will need to succeed in life.
THE ROLE
The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible to distribute nutritious and appealing meals to the classroom, wash dishes after lunch as per the health guidelines and regulations to maintain the kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Up-to-date First Aid and CPR
- Up-to-date Immunization and 2-tiered TB test
- Food experience is an asset
- Food Handler Training or Food Safety Training
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping
- Up-to-date immunization record
- Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
- Criminal Reference Check (current within 6 months of start date)Job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a Police Records Check. Within the first four months and every three years thereafter, a Vulnerable Police Records Check is required
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To record food temperatures as required by the Health Department
- To ensure that food temperatures are maintained at the appropriate levels throughout arrival and serving
- To distribute food amounts in accordance with the guidelines from the caterer and appropriate to the age level of the children in each group, in an attractive manner, with the appropriate number of serving dishes and all utensils needed
- To handle all food and the environment in an hygienic manner
- To set up trays containing the appropriate number of all plates, bowls, cups, cutlery etc. for each group
- To inform the Principal when quantities are too much or too little or of any errors in the order received and request cancellation of items in stock
- To organize and maintain all storage areas and ensure that any food items kept at the School are stored in closed containers and according to health regulations
- The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for daily cleaning of the kitchen
- Comply with all health, fire, CCEYA regulations and School policies
- To wash hands thoroughly before handling food and each time after returning to the kitchen
- To wear an apron and hair net/covering at all times
- To follow fire drill procedures
- To complete kitchen inventory as per schedule
- To wash all snack and lunch dishes and all utensils used, as scheduled, and according to Health Regulations
- To prepare all birthday treats ordered by the families
