arc programs is currently accepting applications for Child and Youth Care Workers to join the Family Connection Centre team to start in late April 2025.

Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) will work directly with children or youth (ages 0-18) who are diagnosed with, or have clinical indicators of Autism, neurodiversity, developmental delays, or other complex support needs, to enhance the child / youths ability to function and connect with family and peers in their home, school and community.

Hours / Schedule :

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • Averaging 37.5-hours per-week

Responsibilities :

Using an outreach, community-based, family-centered service delivery approach, CYCCs will :

  • Establish a support plan based on the child / youths assessed strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Works with the Practice Lead, Agency Leadership, and administrative personnel to coordinate and develop program services and agency initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Practice Lead and family to develop individualized intervention plans based on the My Support Plan, ensuring the approach is tailored to the child / youth's specific needs.
  • Works as a support worker, focusing on providing guidance, resources, and skill-building to help children / youth navigate challenges and develop their abilities, while collaborating with clinical professionals (e.g., counselors) when specialized expertise is needed.
  • Provides individual coaching and support to help the child / youths development in daily life activities, including social-emotional learning, school, employment, domestic skills, and community engagement, while addressing challenging behavior, skill deficits, and complex needs through goal-oriented interventions.
  • Focuses on the best interest of the child / youth, ensuring decisions prioritize their well-being within healthy family relationships and a supportive community.
  • Works directly with children / youth to support their development, while modeling positive, developmentally appropriate strategies to foster supportive engagement between children / youth and their caregivers.
  • Facilitates child / youth-focused groups to improve social skills, communication, life skills, and peer relationships.
  • Connects youth and families with other internal or external resources to ensure access to services that address their specific needs.
  • Collaborates with Intake and Care Coordinators, Developmental Specialists and other service providers and community partners, to deliver comprehensive, goal-focused interventions, ensuring that the child / youth's needs are fully addressed through higher levels of consultation and collaboration when necessary.
  • Applies culturally safe, trauma-informed, relational, and person / family-centered approaches to ensure inclusive, individualized, and effective care.
  • Preferred Education and Experience :

    A bachelors degree in a Social Services or Human Services discipline (i.e. : BSW, CYC, BA in Psychology etc.) with a minimum of 2-years relevant experience is preferred.

    Other levels of qualifications (i.e. : Human Service Worker) including position-specific experience, knowledge and skills may beconsidered.

    To be successful in your role, you'll also need :

  • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of strengths-based family systems and attachment-based support.
  • Well-versed in child development, developmental delays, neurodiversity, ASD, FASD and complex support needs.
  • Familiar with IHCAN assessments, and recommended interventions.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with children, youth, and families.
  • Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Other Requirements

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must Undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.
  • Wage / Benefits :

    $27.00 $ 30.50 per hour based on experience and education.

    Upon successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees (minimum 20-hrs per week) are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions)

    New full-time employees are eligible for 3-weeks paid vacation to start, as well as paid sick days as described in agency policy.
