Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

BBE is seeking an experienced Buyer to join the Procurement team. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer's role is to ensure BBE has the tenacity to jump in and get the job done while providing exceptional customer service. You will set an example for the team around you in all that you do. You think like an expediter, act, communicate, and get it done! This role breaks down as follows :

  • Sourcing and procurement-related tasks - 40%
  • Customer Service - 30%
  • Logistics - 30%

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Bid, evaluate, and prepare quotes and proposals for BBE’s primary customers.
  • Assist with researching and evaluating opportunities to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Support in negotiating improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings by following best procurement practices, tools, and methods.
  • Assist with evaluating suppliers and managing performance improvement activities.
  • Effectively interact cross-functionally with other departments as required.
  • Support and in some cases drive customer relations to flourish existing ties and look for new opportunities
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken to all customer & supplier relationships.
  • Process customer orders. Arrange and coordinate transportation and expedite where necessary.
  • Support with strategic planning and goals for the department
  • Maintaining item and vendor master & material master in ERP.
  • Strategic sourcing and finding potential vendors based on categories
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply issues which may pose a risk or impact on customer expectations.
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Prepare purchase orders by final negotiations with selected suppliers and organizational targets and requirements.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
  • Work independently but also be effective within a team environment.
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties.
  • Commit to BBE QHSE standards and integrate BBE values into everyday practices.
  • Comply with company standards and values.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.
  • CORPORATE COMPLIANCE DUTIES

  • Actively participate in QHSETR programs and systems
  • Contribute to and foster transparent, direct communication, education, and customer service enhancement with the operations team and clients.
  • Ensure file detail and supporting documentation allow for efficient handovers to Operations and Accounting.
  • Contribute to BBE’s continuous improvement and organizational efficiency goals.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-6 years experience sourcing and managing suppliers.
  • Product knowledge of industrial MRO and lubricants is an asset.
  • Professional approach to vendor and customer relationship management.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent written / verbal communication.
  • University or Technical school degree in commerce, supply chain, or other relevant discipline.
  • Proficient in MS software applications, and ERP systems.
