As a Landscape Construction Crew Leader , you enjoy taking on the challenge of meeting job targets – from quality standards to hitting estimated hours and job costs. You’re a seasoned landscape builder and are confident mentoring others, providing the necessary training and feedback for success!

As our new Crew Leader , you will be responsible for planning and execution, leadership and mentoring, organization and equipment care, safety and quality standards, and project reporting.

If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have done last week :

  • Manage the execution of construction projects, planning labour requirements, equipment requirements, and material deliveries to ensure completion of jobs within deadlines.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 2 to 5 employees.
  • Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines.
  • Operate various tools and equipment, including heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
  • Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to delegate / complete work activities.
  • Manage safety, quality, and productivity of work at sites and / or shop / yard.
  • Participate in management of crew personnel by performing onboarding of new staff and completing quarterly performance appraisals on personnel under your care.
  • Refine, implement, and measure divisional best practices and performance metrics.
  • Conduct on-site orientations with new employees and employees in new positions, covering all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork or electronic logs on a daily basis, including daily site meeting logs, crew daily forms, equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.

    The Details

    This is a full-time, seasonal job, working at job sites across the Bruce Peninsula, from Tobermory to Lion’s Head, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford, and Markdale. Outside of the Landscape Construction season, there are opportunities to join our Snow department.

    We recognize that our ideal candidate may come from outside the area, and so relocation assistance is available.   • Master installer in landscape construction.
  • Skilled with all required power tools and equipment.
  • Advanced skill with design interpretation, trade calculations, and layout.
  • Ability to use a smartphone for communication and reporting.
  • Accurately record crew hours by task and materials used daily.
  • Valid class AR driver’s license and clean record.
