Job Description : Sinai Health is seeking a Director of Nursing Informatics. Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Strategy and CIO, and working in strong collaboration with the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and the Vice President, Professional Practice, Nursing and Health Disciplines, the Director of Nursing Informatics will support the delivery of safe, high quality, efficient patient care through the effective application of information and information technologies. As a trusted advisor and collaborator, the Director will be responsible for thought leadership, planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective health information systems, and leading change with all clinical teams, particularly nursing staff. The Director will ensure that priorities align with the Hospital’s strategic plan. In this role you will : Serve as the liaison for health IT efforts representing nursing and clinician needs. In partnership with senior leadership, create a communications strategy and cross-organizational vision for nursing / clinical informatics in concert with the overall nursing communication strategy. Understand the impact of regulatory changes and interpret them for internal and external constituents. Develop nursing / clinical informatics strategies related to health IT procurement, implementation, maintenance, and optimization. Combine knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients effectively. Develop clinical systems strategies in collaboration with other senior nursing / clinical and medical informatics and operational leaders. Act as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of informatics strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice. Develop and implement appropriate service delivery in collaboration with IT leadership in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers. Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing informatics practice. Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior industry leaders to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally. Work with vendors to proactively strategize on development and / or enhancement of clinical information system solutions to meet organizational business needs. Collaborate with clinical and IT leaders in evaluating the effectiveness of technologies and workflows that impact clinical users. Assess evolving patient care delivery models, hospital operations, human resource processes, healthcare finance, and payment models impacting the continuum of care. Promote advancement of clinical and business intelligence systems capable of reporting variables to evaluate patient outcomes, support research, and operational improvement across the continuum of care. Ensure a competent, technology-enabled workforce. Quality : Coordinate and collaborate with administrative teams, clinical leaders, information technology, financial services, and quality / regulatory / risk management in the development of high-quality and innovative clinical information systems. Ensure quality improvement efforts align with promoting informatics research, regulatory bodies, and guidelines as well as evidence-based practice that supports positive clinical outcomes. Ensure coordination and integration of standard of care practices across all clinical departments for quality patient care. Provide critical analysis and evaluation of health IT and recommend revisions of clinical systems, processes, and workflows to ensure positive patient outcomes. Ensure that the environment, technology, and infrastructure emphasize the prevention of medical errors and adverse events. Job Requirements : Mandatory : Master of Science in Nursing, Informatics, and Information Systems. A Master of Business Administration or closely related field is optional. Certification in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent certification. Current and active RN license. Minimum 5-8 years of nursing leadership experience and 2-5 years leading in clinical information system development or informatics. Preferred : DNP or PhD in Nursing / Informatics. Recent experience implementing a new electronic patient record (EPIC, Oracle Cerner, Meditech) in an academic health science centre. Skills and Knowledge : Demonstrated experience in clinical business improvement techniques and knowledge of clinical informatics to transform healthcare delivery. Experience or knowledge about LEAN or equivalent methodologies. Ability to analyze complex problems in a changing environment and develop recommendations and solutions. Action oriented and results driven. Demonstrated ability to influence, engage, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Superior communication (written & oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
