Controller

Well-rounded role spanning many areas of accounting & finance- great role for someone who loves variety in their day-to-day work! Mid-size manufacturing company with customers across North America and multi-national operations. Reporting into the President and directly managing direct reports in accounting.

Who- the Company:

This mid-size manufacturing company with a very long history. They manufacture and process products that are needed and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people. Multi-entity and multi-currency business. Tight-knit and laid-back culture with many long-standing employees. Total revenues of over $30M.

What- the Role:

Our client hiring for a new Controller who will report directly to the President and who will lead/mentor 3 direct reports in accounting and payroll.

Initially the Controller will take care of more “typical corporate accounting” such as multi-entity & multi-currency consolidated financial statement preparation, cashflow management/banking/treasury, month & quarter-end close, and overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll… but with time, month over month, the Controller will have the opportunity to take on more and more variety of tasks as they get to know the business. For example, the Controller will take on financial planning & analysis (including sales and pricing analysis), financial system optimization and upgrades, tax (with external support), etc.

There is opportunity to get exposure to other functions, if so desired by the new Controller… for example: Manufacturing, Supply Chain, IT, and HR.

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking a well-rounded accounting professional with at least 5 years and ideally 7+ years of progressive work experience in most accounting & finance functions.
CPA designation is highly preferred, almost required (exceptions might be made for candidates who are actively pursuing CPA and who have very relevant experience in the manufacturing and distribution sector).
Candidates must be analytical and inquisitive, with the desire to learn the business inside & out and to support strategic business decisions through their analytical findings.
Strong systems skills are essential in this role- Excel proficiency and experience using an ERP. Ideally candidates will have used payroll systems and Power BI, but this can be taught.
Experience mentoring and leading a team of 2 to 5 direct reports.
Experience reporting into President and/or Business Owner/Founder is preferred.

Where:

Based full-time in Surrey. Accessible by bus, and there is plenty of free parking.

How Much:

The salary will be commensurate with experience , qualifications, and skills (team management, CPA designation, years of work experience in manufacturing, etc.) and is in the range of $110,000 to $135,000. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with Swim Recruiting.
