Job description

J OB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Athletics Director, the Retail Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Sport Shop including purchasing products, merchandising, inventory control, assisting Members with court bookings, court monitoring, sales, and Member service / communications. The Sport Shop caters to all Members, including tennis, badminton, squash, aquatics, and fitness enthusiasts. This is a full-time position, working 9 : 30 a.m. to 6 : 00 pm Monday-Friday with flexibility required to work some weekends and holidays as needed. The successful candidate will be an organized self-starter who is comfortable working independently day-to-day but as part of a larger team. Employees do not have access to the sport facilities.

WAGE : $23.50 - $25.00 per hour plus sales commission.

RESPONSIBILTIES :

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the shop including opening and closing procedures.
  • Answering Member questions about products and helping them select the best product for their needs.
  • Managing the ordering and organization of inventory according to Club policies
  • Placing orders, receiving items into inventory and performing end of month inventory counts.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with various suppliers.
  • Merchandising the shop.
  • Assisting with Shop communications including sales, specials, and promotions.
  • Planning special events with vendors as required.
  • Building a positive relationship with other Club Staff including supervising 2-4 part-time staff.
  • Assist in monitoring court usage and assisting Members with online court bookings.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum 2 years’ customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Post-secondary course work in business or sports management.
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs, including MS Office. Experience with JONAS software is an asset.
  • Knowledge or interest in tennis and other racquet sports is an asset.
  • Experience stringing tennis, badminton, and squash racquets is not required but is an asset.
