Job description

This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and capable of working independently or under the instruction from a senior technical engineer and develop his / her career and experience in nuclear field. The candidate shall be able to follow the instructions from a qualified professional engineer to complete the assigned mechanical related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.

  • Perform engineering work following QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements. He / she must have knowledge of CSA N285.0 and CSA B51, CSA N289 and ASME Section III, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, CSA S16, CSA A23, AISC and any other applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and / or reactor systems is preferred.
  • Coordinate and interface with client, suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines or department to execute assigned engineering / analysis work.
  • Experience in Stress Analysis using PipeStress (PEPS), MathCAD, GT STRUDL or other similar software program is an asset.
  • Modelling complex piping and support arrangements using finite element techniques.
  • Perform pipe stress evaluation of piping systems (nuclear class or non-nuclear class) in accordance with ASME Section III, Div.1, and / or ASME B31.1 / B31.3 code requirements.
  • Performing thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear, and non-linear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Div.1 code requirements is an asset.
  • Qualified or eligible to be qualified as ASME Appendix XXIII is an asset.
  • Review of technical documents and drawings, such as General Arrangement, ISO, pipe supports, flow diagrams and P&ID), calculations, design / analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, data sheets, etc.
  • Support to prepare TSSA registration packages for pressure boundary modifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers / Drafters and more junior staff as required.
  • Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical analysis related matters.
  • P.ENG. or in process of obtaining P.Eng. is a must.
