Job description

Home Hardware has an exciting opportunity available for an Analytics Data Specialist to join our Strategy and Management team. Reporting to the Manager, Analytics, you will be responsible for championing the development of best practice data acquisition, data movement and data modeling, with the goal of providing valuable business insights through an enterprise Analytics centre-of-excellence.

What you’ll do :

  • Design and build scalable, high performing business centric data models.
  • Design processes to automate the throughput of data from source to report.
  • Extend the company’s cloud data warehouse with internal and third-party sources of information when needed.
  • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Assist in design and data maintenance of the Data Warehouse (DW), Data Marts (DM), and other Data Stores.
  • Support Analytics change management across the corporation.
  • Support Analytics interaction with 3rd parties and services as it relates to data driven activities and related tools.
  • Identify backup / archive strategies.
  • Ensure daily / weekly / monthly operational activities are completed and troubleshoot when required.

What we’re looking for :

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, with 10 + years’ experience in ETL development.
  • Strong experience in database technologies (SQL Server, Azure DB); data warehousing; PowerShell scripting, and ETL / ELT (SSIS) development and deployment; PowerShell scripting, cloud platform-as-a-service, and various programming languages (Python, R).
  • Experience working on small, medium to large business and system projects, with a focus on Data Analytics and a proven track record of meeting strict time and project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Understanding of Information Technology concepts, standards, procedures, and policies including in-depth knowledge of requirement analysis and modeling tools and techniques.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Results oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible in working in a fast-paced and technical environment, with the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
