Dalhousie University leads the Transforming Climate Action (TCA) Canada First Research Excellence Fund study on the ocean's role in climate change ( https : / / www.ofi.ca / programs / transform-climate-action ). Its partners include 3 other Canadian universities, institutes, and industrial partners. This intensive investigation is divided into clusters. The Project Manager (PM) will work within the Cluster 1.3 research program on ocean sensors and platforms. Job Summary Reporting to the Cluster 1.3 co-leads, the PM will support organizational development of the Cluster and ensure best practices in management and governance are followed. This research Cluster encompasses a diversity of projects, which intersect to different degrees and in different ways. All Cluster participants are committed to creating synergies and maximizing the benefits that flow from the CFREF support. The PM will work closely with the Cluster 1.3 members, to develop and execute a cohesive and integrated scientific strategy. The PM will also work with the CFREF-TCA Finance Manager and the Scientific Directorate to manage this research award, track progress against plans, liaise with funding agencies and institutional contacts, and help identify and pursue new initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and development of the CFREF TCA Cluster 1.3 research program on Ocean Sensors and Platforms and its integration across other TCA clusters and with the TCA Transformation Accelerators.
  • Coordinate and enable for the Cluster : financial management; project progress and risk tracking; annual and midterm reporting, and funding applications.
  • Assist in submitting proposals, receiving and organizing feedback, and eventually managing the Cluster 1.3 research award.
  • Support Cluster-level ship time requests, indigenous engagement, governance, directives from TCA advisory bodies, etc. as required.
  • Help organize monthly Cluster meetings, maintain the minutes and action items, and follow-up with PIs on action items.

Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, oceanography, biology, environmental management, or other related field and related experience in project management, grant management, marine research projects, and organizational governance.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian and international interdisciplinary ocean research and management landscape.
  • Experience of financial management including budget development, forecasting, reporting and decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting and editing written communication for a wide variety of audiences and purposes, including grant applications, reports to funders and TCA governance bodies, and public-facing outputs.
  • Experience working in a university or academic setting and liaising with university administrators.
