About the Role
As a Tooling and Assembly Operations Lead you will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems and / or components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear‑powered systems. You will report to the Robotic Tooling Design Manager and work onsite at our Burlington, Ontario, facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the daily activities across Westinghouse shop facilities at the Burlington campus.
- Coordinate work assignment and activities for work scopes to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget while maintaining the highest expectations for quality and safety.
- Author and implement process improvements (procedures, work instructions, best practices) to support the execution and delivery of shop activities.
- Drive innovation through new methods and technologies for shop activities.
- Administer daily shop oversight and facilitate task‑specific training to shop and non‑shop personnel to ensure the safe execution of work scopes within Westinghouse shop facilities.
- Assemble / disassemble, install, wire, align, and repair machinery and equipment according to layout plans, drawings, manuals and other technical instruction documents in an industrial site.
- Fit and assemble component parts and tooling with a quality to build special‑purpose machinery.
- Set‑up and operate several machine tools, such as manual lathes and small mills, and apply knowledge of mechanisms, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures to support the assembly team with new work or rework.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer‑generated models / reports.
- Responsible for the reporting and tracking of project equipment deliverables (status, issues) for shop work scopes to the responsible Project Manager.
- Work with other Westinghouse manufacturing sites and external vendors to support project milestones.
- Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and / or components.
- Provide input and help develop conceptual / detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process.
Qualifications
5 to 10+ years of relevant experience.Post‑secondary education in a relevant program, including but not limited to : Mechanical Technician / Technologist, Machine Builder and Integrator, Industrial Mechanic Millwright.Experience in manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques.Experience organising and executing multi‑discipline work scopes in a manufacturing / fabrication / assembly environment.Experience working in a team environment in a leadership capacity.Benefits
