General responsibilities :

Under the supervision of the Director of Politics, the incumbent assumes responsibility for the analysis of public policies and programs, legislative and regulatory monitoring, and political representation of the organization with regard to the laws, regulations, policies and programs governing the actions and powers of municipalities in the files assigned to him / her.

Specific responsibilities :

  • Analyzes public policies and programs;
  • Ensures legislative and regulatory watch;
  • Develops and maintains a network of resource persons able to provide information and act as relays within the government;
  • Proposes appropriate amendments to laws, regulations, public policies and programs;
  • Develops and proposes political representation strategies and participates in their implementation;
  • Drafts correspondence, notes and briefs relevant to its proposals;
  • Contributes to the content of the organization's website, URBA magazine and other publications;
  • Participates in the organization of workshops, clinics or other activities as part of annual meetings or other major events organized by the UMQ (proposes topics and resource persons; drafts texts; coordinates; follows up on resolutions);
  • Collaborates in identifying members' needs and implementing the priorities of its management;
  • Provides advice to UMQ members and collaborators;
  • Calls and prepares meetings of standing political commissions and ad hoc committees for which it is responsible, and ensures follow-up;
  • Collaborates in establishing and developing partnerships;
  • Collaborates in the development and updating of the database.

  • Specific knowledge and experience :

  • Undergraduate degree in public administration, political science, economics, law, urban planning or equivalent;
  • Five (5) years' experience in public policy analysis or government relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the municipal sector and government relations;
  • In-depth knowledge of public policy analysis;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft's Office 365 suite of software.
