We are seeking a writer wanting to pivot into ESG / sustainability reporting
Location : Calgary, AB
Position Type : Full time (9 month contract with potential to extend)

Responsibility Matters is a boutique consulting firm established in 2002. We deliver sustainability / ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) reporting from beginning to end.
Our services include project management, report writing, data collection and analysis, and report design. We work with clients in highly technical resource intensive industries, and their operations span the globe.

Based out of Calgary, Alberta, we are a small but skilled team with a diverse range of background experience. We collaborate to deliver best-in-class ESG / sustainability reports for our clients.

What you will be doing
Reporting to a senior associate, this position is responsible for developing sustainability reports for a variety of clients.
With the support of a senior associate, you will :
- Write 40-60 pages of original content for each project / client
- Participate in client interviews and manage follow-ups to gather qualitative content
- Proofread and copy edit your own work and the work of others
- Learn about and apply the following reporting frameworks : Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications studies, public relations, journalism, or related discipline
- Three to five years of hands-on experience in a communications or writing-based role
- Impeccable communications skills, specifically writing, editing and proofreading
- Superior attention to detail and quality of work is mandatory
- Familiar with the Canadian Press Style Guide
- Structured thinker
- Self-starter who can maintain project workflow independently
- Communicate with honesty and open to others doing the same
- Interested in corporate sustainability and ESG
- Able to deliver client-ready work
- Quickly develop rapport with others

Expectations and compensation
- Work hours are flexible but must be available from 9 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m. MST for meetings
- Preferred work location is Calgary, AB (a combination of in-office and / or work-from-home may be considered). Remote applicants will be given consideration.
- Compensation based on experience
