Description
- Operational Leadership : Oversee all aspects of resort operations, including front office, housekeeping, spa, food and beverage, and maintenance.
- Guest Experience : Oversee Guest Services to ensure superior service is delivered consistently and proactively handle complaints and concerns from guests and employees.
- Team Management : Attract, train, retain, and lead a strong and effective resort team. Coach and develop managers and supervisors to uphold brand values and guest expectations.
- Financial Management : Develop and manage the resort's budget, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
Play an active role in budgeting and sales forecasting on an ongoing basis.
- Sales and Marketing : Lead the sales and marketing team in positioning the property as a destination of choice on Vancouver Island in the domestic and international markets.
- Quality Assurance : Conduct regular inspections of rooms, grounds, and amenities to ensure standards are upheld.
- Strategic Planning : Guide the strategic planning process with a focus on delivering superior financial results and identifying strategic goals for the hotel.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant government and local regulatory authorities and legislation relevant to the operation of the hotel as a business and employer.
Ensure policies and procedures comply with, or exceed, all applicable occupational health and safety regulations.
Community and Brand Representation : Build relationships within the management team, employee populace, and the community.
Promote and embody the core values.
Requirements
- 10 plus years of hotel experience in at least a 4-star hotel / resort.
- 2 plus years’ experience as a General Manager at a property with 100 rooms or more, preferred with a spa, food and beverage, and banquet facility.
- Experience operating a branded and independent hotel / resort in a resort-style community environment (experience opening multiple properties preferred).
- Experience managing a fitness facility which includes a hot tub and pool.
- Previous golf course knowledge is an asset.
- Experience developing and following standards and operating procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of engineering and facilities management with the ability to provide leadership to the grounds, golf course, and facilities management teams.
- Possess a strong understanding of how to market the property as a destination of choice for domestic and international guests.
- Extensive food and beverage knowledge.
- Deep knowledge of how to estimate and manage operational costs.
- An in-depth understanding of the sales and marketing strategies used in the domestic and international markets for both FIT and group travel.
- Demonstrated knowledge of room management and reservations systems
