I am seeking an experienced Regulatory and Compliance Analyst to join a highly regarded environmental consultancy. This is an exciting opportunity to work on meaningful projects in the natural resource sector, with a strong focus on the mining industry (hard rock). The successful candidate will bring over 10 years of experience in the environmental field, a proven track record in regulatory and compliance work, and a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with Indigenous communities.
Remote / WFH / Hybrid : 100% Remote or Hybrid option (depending on location)
Salary : $150k - $180k CAD, with benefits, RRSP matching, stock options (The final salary will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, expertise, and professional designations. Candidates who exceed these requirements or bring additional value to the team may receive a salary outside the specified range.)
Travel : Open to travel but not extensive.
Responsibilities :
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory and compliance matters for mining projects, ensuring alignment with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations.
- Develop, review, and submit regulatory applications, permits, and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Lead Indigenous engagement efforts, building and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Provide advice and insights on regulatory trends, changes, and best practices in the natural resource sector, particularly mining.
- Coordinate with clients, regulators, Indigenous groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and compliance milestones.
- Prepare high-quality reports, policy analyses, and regulatory submissions tailored to specific project needs.
- Support environmental assessments, permitting processes, and other regulatory applications for mining projects
Requirements :
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in environmental science, engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.A minimum of 10 years of experience in the environmental sector, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and permitting in the mining industry.Extensive experience engaging with Indigenous communities, including facilitating workshops, addressing concerns, and integrating feedback into project planning.Solid understanding of federal and provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada, including the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act , Fisheries Act , and relevant provincial regulations (e.g., BC Mines Act, Alberta Water Act).Experience managing stakeholder relationships and navigating complex regulatory processes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, biologists, and project managers.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working with hard rock mining projects across various stages, from exploration to closure.Familiarity with Indigenous consultation frameworks and protocols in Western Canada.Professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio, P.Ag., P.Geo., or P.Eng.) is an asset but not required.Advanced knowledge of environmental policy, permitting, and compliance requirements specific to mining.To Apply :
