The team currently has two openings.The CGI Team manages a $30B portfolio and is part of EDC’s Structured and Project Finance (“SPF”) Team. The Global Accounts Director has overall responsibility for the deployment of client strategy, relationship management, and transaction origination for Canada’s large institutional investors, including pension funds and asset managers, who have an expanding global footprint and require international financing solutions. These strategic clients (“Clients”) are direct investors and developers in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.Working closely with EDC’s Global Business Development teams in international markets, the Global Accounts Director is also responsible for overseeing the support strategy for the international investee companies of its Clients. The incumbent is expected to originate strategic financing opportunities at both the Client and its investee companies to drive value and impact for our Clients and for Canada. To achieve this, the Global Accounts Director will develop a trust-based partnering relationship with its Clients, which will lead to a deep understanding of its Clients’ current business and evolving needs.The Global Accounts Director will have a high level of exposure across the organization and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with senior business decision makers. The Global Accounts Director will also influence and provide insight to a dedicated virtual account team composed of product, service and knowledge specialists who have shared responsibility for the development and implementation of strategies to expand each account relationship.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentifies, originates, and develops strategic financing opportunitiesAssesses Client needs and proposes financing solutionsAssesses bankability and EDC mandate of early-stage financing opportunitiesManages and develops senior management relationships with ClientsProvides leadership and coaching to a dedicated virtual account teamWorks and collaborates closely with product teams to deliver financing solutions to the ClientAccountable for the overall Client relationship and leads the development of tailored / customized Client solutionsMaintains, improves, and expands relationship network with the ClientRepresents EDC at key industry events / conferences (speaking or panel engagement)Thought Leader internally to help develop wider corporate sector / client strategiesScreening CriteriaUndergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or relevant fieldMinimum 7 years of business development experience, including client relationship management with a focus on international financing transactions, gained through project finance, corporate and / or investment banking rolesExperience in underwriting structured & project finance transactions and / or corporate finance transactions.Advanced knowledge of best practices in strategic account managementAssetsBilingual in both official languages (English and French)Knowledge of international business practices and international tradeKnowledge / experience in the infrastructure and / or renewable energy sectorLocationExport Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto or Montreal.Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.EDC's Commitment to Employment EquityEDC is committed to employment equity and achieving a diverse workforce.
